He has more than fifteen years experience in teaching, learning and performance improvement, including: instructional design, e-learning, leadership, project management, strategy and research. He has taught on-line and in-person at the corporate, college, and secondary level.

Jerry leverages learning theory and teaching practice with diverse technical skills and business knowledge to empower organizations of many shapes and sizes: from Internet startups to academic organizations to Fortune 500 companies.

  • Managed a networked (wired and wireless) environment of 300+ computers, 25 printers, 1,200 users incorporating VPN + remote access service, encoding/streaming server, full SQL support, IIS hosted websites, file servers, and 35 supported applications.

  • Designed and led the rollout of “smart classroom” technology with interactive whiteboards, projectors, and library of streaming video to 44 classrooms (90% of building with 90% of teachers qualified and ready to use);
  • Launched a program for socio-economic disadvantaged youth and adults to equip them with the computer skills necessary to succeed, 1000 students in less than four years.

  • eBusiness acceleration strategy: competency-based workforce development portal that offers both synchronous and asynchronous learning events.

School Volunteer.

  • Helped map strategy for implementation of virtual high school: explored synergies between present and proposed initiatives, recommended launch deliverables.
  • Taught teachers how to integrate digital video into their classrooms and curricula.

College of Mount St. Joseph.

  • Led the Center for Innovative Teaching, incorporating technology appropriately into the college curriculum;
  • Chaired the Instructional Delivery Committee, co author of the College’s distance-learning strategic plan;
  • Designed Paralegal Online, the first ABA-approved distance-learning certification program in the country. Ten courses designed from the ground up to be delivered at a distance: cohort model, structured sequence of time-compressed courses, and balance of synchronous and asynchronous instructional events.

  • Researched, specified and implemented a campus-wide course management server, WebCT for NT.
  • Built Web-based courses: electronic bulletin boards, embedded interactivity, and on-line testing; including an Authorware interaction that served as the basis for a published research paper demonstrating it's efficacy.
  • Designer, developer and trainer for the Digital Development Week, a summer program which attracted more than half of the full-time faculty members and resulted 50 faculty Web sites, 50+ Web-enhanced courses, and led to the use of technology by more than 1,500 students.
  • Co-webmaster of the College, assisted re-design of College Web site, trained department members to maintain their individual sites, and developed of all the academic sections and on-line catalog.
  • Acquired and produced media– text, graphics, photographs, and video through both hardware and software. Other duties include: evaluating new technologies, cross-platform CD production, technical and end-user support.

  • Designed awareness courses to prevent the abuse drug and alcohol;

Mershon Center, Ohio State University.

  • Member of research team implementing educational transformation in the emerging democracies of Eastern and Central Europe in the Citizenship Development for a Global Age.
  • Appointed position, only masters-level candidate appointed that year.

Gahanna-Lincoln High School.

  • Taught American History and Economics to high school juniors and seniors, and first teacher in the department to use the Internet in the classroom.

  • Incorporated technology with: multimedia presentations; student multimedia projects; augmented discussions (Web-based resources, CD-ROM resources); and administrative tasks.

 

National Pharmaceutical Conglomerate.
  • Solution lead supporting training program, including needs analysis, content analysis, and audience analysis, LCMS launch, knowledgebase integration, structured re-design of ILT training, SharePoint 2007 deployment. 
National Insurance Company.
  • Technical lead for SharePoint application which assembles document modules and courses... all of which can be used so the modification one document updates all courses. Also allows for self-monitoring and manager review. Integrated maintenance application provides automatic workflows and notification.
Various Organizations.
  • Lead analyst Organizational Readiness Assessments that use written survey instruments, stakeholder interviews, and observation to determine gaps between present-state and future-state with learning technologies. Assign priorities to these gaps and make recommendations based on industry best-practices.

  • Designed and developed end-user acceptance program for K-12 learning portal software solution.

  • A Solution Leader for $2MM program to help improve the performance of employees across the globe with new CRM and business processes.
  • The solution includes high quality awareness video, animated email campaign, robust assessment/evaluation system, training toolkit for business leaders, paper-based and computer-based learning materials.
  • Helped global leaders to translate their business goals into learning objectives.

National Distributor.

  • A Solution Leader for $3MM project utilizing web-based, instructor-led (in-person and online), performance support, data-base driven logistics, and web-based evaluation tools to convert more than 10,000 people to two custom ERP systems.
  • Led analysis team, which examined audience, tasks, technology, logistics, development capability, and business goals.
  • Designed and built system to complement and leverage existing training departments and accommodate change: both for new learning objectives and for new instructional developers.

National Insurance Company.

  • Member of design team for first corporate online course with an estimated audience of 40,000. Created organizing metaphor, identified technical specifications, and designed learner interactions.
  • This e-learning course is a model for all future online courses.

Mid-West Regional Bank.

  • Strategic consulting that helped the bank frame the complex problem of implementing their enterprise-wide LMS.
  • Built a decision map to prioritize decisions and outlined ways to use education for increasing revenue and decreasing costs.

Global Software Company.

  • Developed a portal approach to e-Learning strategy: approach to solving both short and long-term educational needs.
  • Designed distance-learning activities to increase revenue, enhance customer service, integrate with e-commerce, and streamline internal processes using the Web.

National Agricultural Company.

  • Instructional designer for global management tool that teaches local business unit leaders and Six Sigma Black Belts how to think about the new Customer Assessment Project, a major initiative that includes all customer-facing employees.
  • Mapped the recommended knowledge flow, and proposed a comprehensive communication plan for all stakeholders to complement the training program.

Global Consumer Products Company.

  • Designed and wrote online help system for new teen website. Promoted ideas of “edu-commerce” in the design of core brand websites.

Educational Search Start-Up.

  • Created learning plans for teachers to enable them to utilize the various features of this electronic educational search engine and suite of hosted application services in their classrooms

Regional Consulting Company.

  • Combined disparate methodologies into the “Adaptive Change Management Methodology”, a company-wide way of problem-solving that is designed for rapid deployment of comprehensive change (people, technology, process).

Baba Budan's Coffeehouse.

  • In a part-time capacity during graduate studies, assisted with all major aspects of starting a new business, including: site location, marketing strategy, advertising, corporate sales, retail layout, and personnel supervision.
  • Designer and builder of Baba's Web site– which was, in 1998, the first virtual reality coffeehouse (thanks to the WayBack machine for capturing temporal slices of the web :^) incorporating VRML, secure on-line ordering, and customer feedback options.
